Mandy Smith (MCouns), is originally from Canada but has considered Hong Kong her home since 2015.
Mandy has always been committed to the growth and well-being of children and youth. Using a person-centred approach, she brings an empathic and non-judgmental stance to her counselling sessions. Mandy is passionate about guiding young people to become more self-confident and self-aware. She uses a CBT design to help her clients gain the tools needed to achieve this and ultimately become more self-reliant, content and fulfilled.
Mandy mainly provides counselling for children and youth dealing with a variety of issues, including, but not limited to, stress, anxiety, depression and family issues.
Prior to her work in Counselling, Mandy worked as an Elementary School Teacher in both Canada and Hong Kong. With over 10 years in the classroom, she has extensive experience working closely with young people. While working at the inclusive Harbour International School, she was able to gain much valuable knowledge and training in dealing with emotional regulation, anxiety, social skills, interpersonal relationships and bullying issues amongst her students. Additionally, she believes strongly in the power of developing a genuine rapport with the clients she’s worked with by listening with compassion and ensuring a client feels valued and heard.
Mandy’s work experience has greatly shaped her as a professional and she continues to apply her compassionate perspective to her counselling approach.
